About Us
Toy Box Pre-school has offered term time day care for 2 to 5 year olds for over 20 years. Toy Box Pre-school is based in the Swainson Building next to Ansford Academy, near Castle Cary in Somerset. We are open Monday – Friday.
Your child’s day will consist of varied and interesting structured sessions both morning and afternoon where he/she will learn through organised and free play. We have a secure outside play area and aim to allow the children to use it everyday. We also often take the children out on walks through the fields or into town.
Our routine reflects the need of each child:
During the early part of each morning the children are able to spend an appropriate amount of time on each activity. As the older ones can engage in an activity for longer than the younger children, we offer a balance of a child-initiated or child-led learning with some adult led activities. This gives the children the opportunities to develop a wide range of skills.
Ofsted Visit
On the 6th of March 2018, Ofsted spent the whole day at ToyBox and concluded that our pre-school is at a ‘Good’ Ofsted standard.

Staff
Key Person
|
All of our staff are appropriately qualified, dedicated, caring and hold a wealth of experience between them. We are committed to providing our staff with an ongoing programme of development through regular in-service training.
All our staff and committee members undergo a DBS check (formerly CRB). The pre-school uses a key person system with whom parents can discuss any issues or concerns they may have. The key person follows each child’s progress and records its achievements. This information is then passed onto their primary school. Key person meetings are arranged twice each year although you can make an appointment for a meeting with your key person at any time.
